Celebrating 50 Years of Picasso: A Journey Through His Life and Art

Attention all art lovers! April 8, 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the death of the iconic Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso.

To commemorate his life and work, the Spain-France binational commission has prepared fifty exhibitions and events in thirty-eight institutions in Europe and the United States, under the umbrella of the Picasso Year.

The program includes a total of 50 exhibitions in 16 venues in Spain, 12 in France, 7 in the United States, two in Germany, two in Switzerland, one in the Principality of Monaco, one in Romania and one in Belgium - a unique opportunity to explore the world of art and celebrate the life and work of a legendary artist!

The Year of Picasso is not only a showcase of the artist's incredible works of art, but also a reflection on Picasso's personal life. The exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum addresses important issues such as misogyny, masculinity, creativity and Picasso's "genius" from a feminist perspective in the context of the Me Too movement. This exhibition is just one of many that will focus on lesser-known aspects of Picasso's life and work.

In addition, the Year of Picasso program will also explore Picasso's integrative vision of the European cultural heritage, his constant dialogue with other artists of his time, the rapid transition and study of languages and techniques in his different pictorial stages, as well as the impact of his work on contemporary art.

Don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the exciting Picasso galaxy! Join us and celebrate the legacy of the most influential Spanish artist of the 20th century!
